My New Love

I've been following Sucrerie Magazine for a little while on and off, most just checking the front page to see if anything was of interest. With my busy schedule, I really never gave it more than a quick skim-and-glance but now that I've been sick and at home so much I finally hunkered down and read all the archives. And I must say, I'm in love.

Not only is it an all-around great blog for us western lolitas, it actually involves the readers. You can submit your own tutorials, reviews, or even just a picture of you for their "Western Style Watch." Best of all there's an advice column for our loli-woes. The tutorials are a bit lacking (there's only two, and they're both about nails), but all that can change with reader submission! I personally have a few tutorials that I'm going to submit.

Go bookmark Sucrerie Magazine! I know I did.

ashjaeflknag It's been a tad bit o'time

Yeeeeah. I have so little to say right now, aside from

1. I got a job, then proceeded to quit because it gave me startlingly bad migraines, and

2. The sewing machine is broken so making new skirts is on hiatus, unless Nate takes me to his grandma's house to use hers. Although, it doesn't seem like he's gonna jump on that ball because, as we all know, that woman is insane.

Oh oh oh. I have a third.
3. In the very near future, we may be moving out of the camper and into a real apartment. For real people!

Decadence is the best cure for insomnia

Since tonight has been a tough night to sleep (though I'm winding down finally), I went through my usual routine of getting sleepy. These are my tricks and tips to being able to relax at night.

  • Get Cozy: I don't mean bundle up till you're sweating hot. I mean that comfortable warm feeling you get from a hug or some cocoa. If you want to get down to the science of it, quick body temperature changes expend a lot of energy since you're body is trying to balance it between where it is now and where it was a minute ago. That's why a hot bath makes you sleepy once you get out.
  • Speaking of warmth, Tea!!! Well, I can't really skip this one. Celestial Seasoning's Sleepytime is my favorite since not only does it warm me up, but it's caffeine free and comprised of herbs and flowers that help to reduce stress and anxiety. I'm prone to anxiety, so I keep a couple satchels on hand when I'm out of the house so if I'm feeling stressed I can just pop into a coffee shop and ask for a cup of hot water.
  • Acupressure: Your body is covered with these amazing hotspot that link to other parts of your body. It's sorta like that old game of telephone where you have two cups attached with string. There's a point on the inside of your forearm that helps to alleviate tummy aches. Why? Because it calms you down, reducing acid production. That means you (and your belly) relax. It's not smack dab in the middle - a little closer to the wrist. Give that area a little massage for sleepy wonders.
  • On the subject of massage, you can't forget your head and neck: After a long day, your neck is sore from holding your head up! Pamper your neck and shoulders with a soothing rub. If you've got a lovebird, get your beau to do if for you. A massage always feels better from someone else. And don't forget your scalp and face. Even, stroking pressure work best. Go on top of your eyebrows, over you sinus cavities and down your jaw. Stress tends to build up here and can even cause headaches.
  • And finally.... Midnight Snacks! That's right. Sure, you shouldn't have them every night but sometimes a case of the late night munchies is all it takes to bat away your beauty sleep. But I'm not talking a piece of plane toast and a glass of water. No no. I mean the little treats you love so much. Have a cupcake or a slice of pie. Maybe an impromptu tea party with scones, clotted cream and jam (plus a cup of Sleepytime) or some cucumber-and-cream-cheese sandwiches.

Lavish yourself.
Really. Go for it. There's a reason you can't sleep. Whether something has got you down, or there's some big deadline at work or school or you just think your hair is a frazzled mess, you're stressed out and need some good old fashioned TLC. Be the princess you are and in no time you'll be snoozin' the night away.

Does anyone know? I really enjoyed reading her essays, and reread them regularly. Even my boyfriend like when I read them aloud to him.

Forums are meh >.>

Well, today was a purely non-loli day but I still (as always) tried to put together something cute. We just ran around town, gathering applications from every store in town. And I mean every store. It's not a big town, mind you, but my boyfriend and I still managed to put a tree back together.
But anyways, I really loved the outfit and excitedly posted it to a lolita forum, only to get chewed out for it not being lolita enough. So whatevs.

I can't seem to find the pictures on my hard drive, but basically it was a navy and cream striped empire waisted jumper with a 3/4 sleeve top underneath that had little apples all over and red trim, along with a thin navy bow in my hair, some red and white striped knee-highs and these Alice blue flats. With my snakebites and my chest tattoo peeking out, my boyfriend thought I looked like a Suicide Girl that fell out of a storybook.




In other news, Hello Kitty died for your sins.

Oh my, a first entry.

mood: sick sick

How exciting, I suppose.

I think this would be more exciting if I wasn't sick and had something important to say.
Well, it's been a nice day. Tomorrow, we ( Nate, his mom, his grandma and I) are going to Kearney for the day.  His grandma has lovely tea sets, which always seem to make me feel better even if I'm dying of the flu. Ooh, I also finished the embroidery design I was working on. Next up is to add ruffles and make a nice applique for one of my loli skirts.
On a side note, I was sick of looking so grungy, so I dyed my hair back to it's natural color. Now it's a very dark brown and my boyfriend says I look like a geeky alt girl, to which I replied "That could have to do with the fact that I have glasses, tattoos and piercings and am a nerd."
Just a thought.
